Don’t Get High on Your Own Supply

googleplaneinside.jpgThe new Google Jet story has prompted Tali Aben to write an excellent post about what drives entrepreneurs. I strongly recommend reading the post itself so I won’t summarize it, but she does ponder between her two “personas” when it comes to commenting about the situation. Her VC side enjoys the bullish effect of the eye-poking Jet while her personal view is more critical.

I’ll be more explicit - the whole thing is simply disghusting. I don’t find fighting over a king size 767 bed cool, fun or inspiring. I certainly hope most VCs, not to mention entrepreneurs, won’t as well. As a matter of fact, we may look back at this story as the first bad omen that signaled the fall. When greed and decadence become THE key, when you get high on your own supply, that’s when empires start their fall. It happened to Rome and it could happen to Google.

Summer is here, Mundial is over, time to take a quick comic break. A few issues Web 2.0 doesn’t solve, for a change. Enjoy.
